About Us

The mission of the “Würzburg Initiative Tissue Engineering” (WITE), which was founded in March 2003, is to facilitate the recognition of Würzburg as a national and international center of excellence in tissue engineering research and education.

The goals of WITE are:

• Promoting collaboration among Würzburg's leading health and academic institutions
• Sponsorship of educational programs for students and professionals
• Funding of research with clear potential commercial impact
• Organization of a biannual international tissue engineering conference
• Playing a leadership role in defining community strategies for regional development
• Facilitating access to innovative technology transfer systems
