| About us
The mission of the “Wuerzburg
Initiative Tissue Engineering” e.V., which was
founded in March 2003, is to facilitate the recognition of Würzburg
as a national and international center of excellence in tissue engineering
research and education.
Together with BioMedTec Franken
e. V., a local organization supporting and advising biotechnology start-ups
in northern Bavaria, WITE also fosters economic development by promoting
the growth of a regional biotechnology industry rooted in the field of tissue
engineering.
The goals of WITE are:
- Promoting collaboration among Würzburg's leading health and academic
institutions
- Sponsorship of educational programs for students and professionals
- Funding of research with clear potential commercial impact
- Organization of a biannual international tissue engineering conference
- Playing a leadership role in defining community strategies for regional
development
- Facilitating access to innovative technology transfer systems
